from the 70s to the 80s to the current with a twist of yore

-köhncke is one of the kompakt stalwarts and should be a bigger name than he is. hes got eccentric style, sweet taste and knows his way around a mixing desk. his material is well worth delving into a german pop gem that shouldered in with the nuveau tech community

-what needs to be said about the egyptian lover? his freakness is such a pioneer of the evolution of electronic music its a shame he often gets forgotten about. he's back on the circuit again and ][ still pissed at missing his show earlier this year. the mood, the pace, the bass of this track is unmistakable. legend beyond legend, the spotlight has to return to this man sometime soon.

-kammerflimmer kollektief are one of the finest bands on the go today. forget about that overblown 8.4 rated group of muck savages post web reviewer blow job. these guys are solid. this track is taken from as equally a solid remix album. staubgold is an astonishing label, the depth of work is incredible if a little daunting.

-the twlight sad are newish to ][ ears, excellent album, unmistakably glasgow in feel. its ages since ive heard something this raw, straight forward and honest. makes you release the beauty in things that arent polished.

-been a huge fan of anything dose one related for years. cLOUDDEAD's ten is an all time fav. his encore appearance with the notwist a few years ago is one of the most memorable live performances ][ ever witnessed. the list goes on from themselves to solo stuff to the anticon back catalogue. this subtle stuff is awesome. ][ buy anything i can find, this track is from the last twist by these guys + dax pearson is an insane keyboardist who is back in action after being paralised during a tour bus crash back in 2005.

-neu! neuff said, check em out.

-this marc leclair album is beautiful. the guy has a wonder touch, a wonder sound. ][ put some akufen tracks up here before either as posts are in mixes. all brilliant.

-arthur russell died of aids back in the 80s. he's something of a new york legend. the scencerity, honesty and grit of his music is unparalleled. a cellist and producer of amazing avant disco. his back catalogue shines and will shine brighter as the years grow longer.

-been on the shitkatapult bandwagon since its inception. apparat is one of the finest german producers out there and his back catalogue grows by the year. this track is from an early'katapult release. cant wait for his new work with modeselektor = moderat. the let your love glow (featuring paul st. hilaire) was featured in the mother milk mix posted here in may.

-this kid khonner released this album when he was 18 a few years back. i really dont know what is happening to modern day youth. the government needs to intervene before its too late.

farah's law of life track first came into ][ speakers last summer and its one track that just carries itself so effortlessly and perfectly and seems to come from not just another time but another place transporting to some italian, mediteranean sunshine opium beach den.
can one mention itilian disco and not mention daniele baldelli? this track will blow you away from whatever you are doing. beautiful.
speaking of daniel, wang twists the style into some kind of biodiesil electronic pulse

bubble grit summer heist

this is a bit of an odd mix.
the idea here was to play around with some of the summer jams hat have flown through ][ ears these past few months. after all when can the sounds of summer best be appreciated?

so the mood is set.
the theme: bubble grit. a pop slice of summer jams for dancing feet.
the aim: capture the energy of bubble gum, moving jaws, summer sun drenched hues and bubble burst.
process: regurgetating valium feedback beats, breaks and modulations form ..... make way for the viscous change and transition culminating to release phase. from packaged solid to malleable form to expansion to bubble in a closed system to the eventual culmination of surface tension and the bang and burst of sticky gum on ur face and ray-bans.

muTek 07

when a focused music festival rolls by or nearby, it's time to match the number of days to the number or t-shirts that will be required. a time undoubtedly where stuff happens that doesn't happen that often, when time seems to merge into some cosmic overpass through the brake down of brain neurons by music, location, atmosphere, vices, sleep deprivation and a scattering of random sparkles. you take what you can, roll home to whatever you do, in a mess but somehow recharged.

particular highlights of the stuff captured included in no particular reverse order: -the whigonomy brothers unweilding pushing of 'the lets go wild/there;s a party in my legs' sensors, they could have played all night until people dropped of exhaustion, just can't have enough fun with these guys.
- sutekh just approaches things at such a refreshing angle, i have no idea what he played but it went off
- digitaline, chic miniature (ones to watch), my my played sweet sets perfectly balanced
- cobblestone jazz were one of the better headliners of the metropolis nights, m. johnson threw parts of his kitchen sink into the crowd
- for some reason just couldnt twist into rhythm that was the north american showcase takin place in the second room of metropolis on sat night by all accounts it took off & pheek played a set like his life depended on it, sleek
audion was borion, not really but he treated his set like he was playing to a boutique crowd, the kinda set ]['d like to hear while waiting for my poodle to be groomed. also as a dear friend commented his big hands band need some lessons in beat timing. its hard to argue with his music though, the sense of grace and effortlessness in his production is astounding.
- micheal mayer if i had a penny for every time ]['ve heard that he is that he's the best dj ]['d have my own powerhouse record label, ][ had to borrow a spare set of hands to count the errors in his set ][, he just couldn't get his first serve in, he's a good label boss but somebody please bring dj kose to a party near me
